Finally, the feasibility of new investment projects are assessed and overall research conclusions offered.

Alkyl polyglycosides (APGs) are a part of non-ionic surfactants extensively used in several industrial and household applications. They are derived from usually glucose derivatives, fatty alcohols and sugars. The raw materials for industrial manufacture are typically fat and starch, the final products are typically complex combinations of compounds with various sugars including the alkyl groups and hydrophilic end of variable length encompassing the hydrophobic end. When derived from glucose, they are known as alkyl polyglucosides.

Applications of Alkyl polyglucoside surfactants are in car wash, hard surface cleaners and I&I industrial cleaners among others. Moreover, alkyl polyglucoside surfactants finds applications in inks, fabric softeners, anti-fogging products& dispersants, laxatives, ski wax used in snowboard, agrochemical formulations such as insecticides& herbicides, biocides and defoamers among others. APGs are used for enhancement and formation of foams in detergents for delicate fabrics and for dishwashing. Moreover, to its favourable properties of foaming, they are attractive as they are biodegrading readily. On the other hand, the developing prices attributed with alkyl polyglucoside surfactants considered high, thereforeit may hamper the market growth in years to come.
